Please support your local businesses, every purchase however small makes such a BIG difference to our independent businesses. Here in Uttlesford our market towns offer a unique shopping experience. Our main centres are Saffron Walden and Great Dunmow, both have parking in the town centre for only £3.50 for the whole day, so why not grab your bags and explore our indie retailers.

SAFFRON WALDEN

Set against the historic backdrop of Saffron Walden the independent retailers rub shoulders with some of the country’s biggest High Street names.  You’ll find everything from independent chocolatiers, bookstores, craft shops and fashion boutiques, home furnishing retail stores and outdoor wear to quirky gift shops and handmade jewellery.  Specialist beer and wine shops and delicatessens selling local produce.  Discover art galleries and artist studios where you can find paintings, jewellery and ceramics. You’ll find the ideal gift to take back home as a memento of your stay, or a gift for a loved one– Saffron Walden really has something for everyone.  Make sure you take time to explore all the side streets and alleyways where you will discover independent coffee shops and quirky retailers.  On Tuesdays and Saturdays, the award-winning market takes over the Market Square with a delicious array of gourmet foods and household staples.

GREAT DUNMOW

In Great Dunmow town centre, you will encounter a very different pace of life.  A High Street comprised solely of independent traders Great Dunmow is proudly traditional.  You’ll find award winning florists, handmade jewellery and luxurious homewares.  Wine stores and gift shops, butchers and pet stores.  Ladies will be spoilt for choice with numerous stylish boutiques alongside some wonderful restaurants and coffee shops.  A small market takes place every Tuesday with excellent fresh fish and cheese stalls.  Twice a year the town centre businesses come together to close the High Street and host a fabulous community event with live music and lots to eat and drink.  Great Dunmow really is a memorable place to shop away from the usual hustle and bustle found elsewhere.
