The natural heritage and beautiful rural nature of Uttlesford make it an ideal place to walk.
There are a multitude of idyllic villages connected by footpaths and quiet winding lanes that are perfect to amble between whatever your level of experience.
Miles of hedgerows and field views as far as the eye can see characterise much of the district. Footpaths are well maintained, often by teams of dedicated volunteers, and signposted to ensure you find the way easily.
Places to Walk
The Flitch Way and Hatfield Forest offer tranquil routes away from roads making them ideal for families or dog walkers.
Our green spaces such as Noakes Grove and the Aubrey Buxton Reserve are thriving wildlife havens for many rare species and are delightful places to walk all year round.
As in all rural areas please be careful when walking dogs off the lead as wildlife is in abundance and you never know when a herd of deer or sheep may cross your path.
Check out Uttlesford Ramblers and The Hundred Parishes Society walks for numerous walking routes across the district.
