Short Walk – Dog Loop from The Spotted Dog, High Easter
Start/Finish
Begin and end your walk at The Spotted Dog – a cosy village pub that happily welcomes dogs indoors
and in its garden. A perfect hub for your walk.
Walk Overview (~2.5–3 miles / 1–1.25 hours)
1. Bishop’s Green to High Easter Village
Set off west on quiet lanes into High Easter. You’ll pass rural cottages and fields before reaching St Mary’s Church, a peaceful medieval building that’s worth a quick peek.
2. Footpath Loop across the Fields
From the village, follow the public footpath across fields, crossing over small wooden bridges and hedges. This offers a scenic countryside route typical of Uttlesford.
3. Return via Quiet Backroads
Continue the loop, returning to Bishop’s Green via minor roads and fields. This section is calm and rustic, winding gently back to the pub.
Tips for an Enjoyable Walk
- Carry drinking water and a portable bowl for your dog.
- Wear sturdy, waterproof footwear, as some field routes may be muddy.
- Respect signage and stick to marked footpaths to avoid trespassing.
- The pub is a great reward spot- especially after a brisk countryside walk.
