In 1998, a traditional English pub with an Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant was a new and intriguing idea. Previously, it seemed that never the twain would meet. Then new owners rebranded the Vic, Jalsa Ghar Restaurant & Queen Victoria free house’; the first meaning ‘House of Entertainment’ in Bengali, a great description endorsed by happy local customers.
