Our extensive footpaths and spider webs of quiet roads make the region an ideal place to walk or cycle but there’s lots of other ways to get active too so here is a selection for you to enjoy.
Golf
For Golfers Saffron Walden Golf Club offers a course with spectacular views. Golf World Stansted offers options for all the family with a double-storey floodlit driving range, a 3-hole beginner course or picturesque 9-hole golf course. The 1066 themed Adventure Golf Course and Footgolf courses are all great fun.

Fishing
For those of you who like to fish Clavering Lakes and Home Farm Fishery offer peaceful, well stocked lakes.
In Great Dunmow the Doctors Pond and River Chelmer offer enjoyable fishing options.

Clay pigeon shooting
Fancy a go of clay shooting? Whether you are an experienced shooter or you’ve never shot before the Essex and Herts Shooting School has a package for you to enjoy. All you have to do is take aim and have a blast.

Skate parks
For the young – and young at heart – Uttlesford has three skateparks across the district. One Minet Park in Saffron Walden has bowls for experienced skaters and a mini park for younger visitors. Great Dunmow and Stansted Mountfitchet also have good facilities for all ages.

Adrenaline fuelled experience days racing supercars or American Trucks are available at Carver Barracks or try some rally driving at Langley Park Rally School where you can also have a go diving a John Deere tractor. Stansted Raceway is a great option for some noisy family fun watching the banger racing.

Leisure Centres
Visitors can also make use of the One Life Leisure Centres in Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow and Stansted Mountfitchet for some swimming or court activities.
