Cycling Breaks

Uttlesford offers great opportunities for cycling whatever your level of experience.

National Cycle Route 11 goes through the district and links with our national routes. See More about Route 11 on the Sustrans site. See more about Route 11 here.

Cycling Routes

Road cyclists can follow the route of the Tour de France which came through the district in 2014.

Check out Route You for a selection of other cycling routes.

For cyclists wanting a more genteel pace Uttlesford Wildlife have routes following quieter lanes which each take you on a tour past some special roadside verges with their summertime wildflowers and butterflies.

Cyclists who are less confident on the roads can head to Hatfield Forest or explore the Flitch Way, a former railway track which is now an important greenway and wildlife corridor.

Cyclist Friendly Cafes

There are lots of cafes and places that welcome cyclists across the district; here is a selection to get you started.
