Audley End Miniature Railway has a beautiful fairy walk and adventure playground to explore once you have taken a magical trip on the miniature train through the woodland. Step back in time at Mountfitchet Castle or Audley End House and Gardens.

Down Hall Hotel & Spa have free live music events throughout the year. They also have a children’s play area and giant chess board to keep your little ones entertained.
If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous why not try an overnight camp in St Mary the Virgin Church, Stansted Mountfitchet. With rumours of ghostly activity, we can’t guarantee you a good night sleep, but it will certainly be one to remember!
Cafes, pubs and restaurants
Our cafes, pubs and restaurants are nearly all family friendly, some have great outdoor spaces so your little ones can play while you relax. Cammas Hall Farm has a free nature walk and playpark. The Chameleon Café in Great Dunmow is a great destination for a coffee or ice cream and a spot of pottery painting.
The Gardens of Easton Lodge are open on Thursdays throughout the summer and on specific Sundays throughout the year, and is free entry for children under 16. There is a treehouse, lily pond, walled kitchen garden and a glade walk. Whilst visiting here, why not stop off at Little Easton Manor and enjoy a walk around the lakes.
