There are few better ways to spend an afternoon than traversing the Uttlesford countryside stopping off at a lovely country pub or two enroute.
These are a selection of some of our favourite circular walks for all levels of fitness. As some of our pubs are in rural locations, please do check opening times on their website before setting off.
Clavering, Wendens Ambo, Newport Circular
This is a 20km loop trail good for all skill levels. The Fox and Hounds, Clavering; Axe and Compasses, Arkesden; The Bell, Wendens Ambo; The Coach and Horses and White Horse, Newport are all enroute. There is also a mini supermarket and bakery in Newport if you want some on the go refreshments.

Great Easton, Tilty and Thaxted parishes
A 9km walk in the glorious countryside with wide ranging views and big skies in all directions. Passing the Farmhouse Inn, Monk Street and The Three Horseshoes, Duton Hill.

Ashdon and Radwinter Circular
This is a 16.4km loop offering a great opportunity to see some of the local wildlife. It passes the Rose and Crown pub, Ashdon and The Plough at Radwinter.
Great Dunmow town walk
If you still fancy a walk but don’t want to get your shoes dirty this 5km walk around Great Dunmow town centre is a great option. It takes in a wide variety of wonderful places to eat and drink so there really is something for everyone.
