World Piano Day, celebrated on the 88th day of the year to honour the 88 keys of the piano, is a global event that unites music lovers everywhere. This special day celebrates what is often called ‘the king of all instruments’. On Saturday 29 March, Saffron Walden joins the worldwide celebration with its own unique festivities. This town-wide event, dedicated to the piano, offers various inspiring performances and opportunities. With performances from Brad Kella (winner of Channel 4’s The Piano), Martin James Bartlett (previous BBC Young Musician of the Year winner), James Beckwith (award-winning jazz pianist and composer), a screening of The Pianist at Saffron Screen, and open piano sessions at Saffron Hall and Audley End House, there’s something for everyone!
